Gathering Information
There are 3091 students/faculty who have not purchased a parking pass. These individuals are either parking illegally or do not have a vehicle on campus.
There is a discrepancy of 6,907 between permits sold and parking spaces available
These numbers do not take into account that frequently some of the parking is used for event parking for basketball games or other sporting events
This data supports the claim that more parking is needed
Students and Employees Permits sold Parking spaces 17319.0 Column2
Students and Employees Permits sold Parking spaces 14228.0 Column1
Students and Employees Permits sold Parking spaces 7321.0
Why did we choose this topic?
Choosing this topic was a choice that we all have agreed upon as a group. I think finding a parking space at NKU is a problem we all face, and I as a student at NKU would share this and find a solution can fix this to build a better NKU for everyone. After I have done the survey and seen the difference I believed that more parking spaces is very needed.
Define Problem
It has been noticed that parking at NKU is a real problem to many of our fellow classmates.
It is our goal to evaluate the current parking situation then design a solution to this problem
The objective of any facility designed would be to increase the amount of parking spots available to students
Solutions
Organize
Expand a current parking garage
Hourly parking space for visitors
EVALUATE SOLUTIONS
Organize | Expand a current parking | Hourly Parking Space | |
Cost | B | C | A |
Timing | B | C | A |
Effectiveness | A | B | C |
Unique Benefits | A | B | C |
Total Score | 10 | 6 | 8 |
Using a Comparison Chart we have selected the best solution
The comparison chart uses an A-B-C ranking where A is believed to be the most beneficial and C is the least beneficial.
An A ranking is worth 3 points, a B is worth 2 and a C is worth 1 point
