1 There are several differences between system software and application software. The biggest difference, however is that system software is the operating system while the application software requires an operating system in order to be installed.
· Therefore, that is the relationship between them. Without system software, an application cannot be installed. According to a reading from San Antonio College, "The operating system is used to manage system resources and give application software an environment in which it can run. It acts as an intermediary between the user, the software and the computer hardware". I feel like they explained very well how important thy system software is.
· I think the blurring line is that system software can run independently of the application software while application software requires the presence of a system software. Moreover, users do not interact with the system software- it only serves in the background whereas users are constantly interacting with application software.

The two major types of computer software are system software and application software. System software consists of the programs that control or maintain the operation of the computer. On the other hand, application software consists of the programs designed to help solve some particular category of problems such as word-processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphics programs. The main difference between the two software types is that one is intended to be used by the computer (system software) and the other to be used by the end user (application software).
Application software relies on system software, specifically an operating system, to run their programs. Without an operating system, application software would not be able to access hardware to abstract data. Applications make these requests through the operating system via system calls.
The lines between the two software types gets a little blurred when it comes to embedded operating systems. The embedded operating system does not load and execute applications like a desktop OS. This means that the embedded operating system is only able to run a single application. This might lead some to think that an embedded OS is an application software instead of a system software.

2 What is the main difference between system and Application Software?
Application Software allow users to form task to solve problems such as creating documents, managing finances and editing images.
System Software manage and operates computer hardware thereby proving a platform for other application software.
· What is the relationship between these software categories?
Unlike the system software, operating system is used to manage system resources and give application software an environment in which it can run.
What is blurring the lines between System and Application Software?
System software gets installed when the operating system is installed on the computer while application software is installed according to the requirements of the user.
