Max Weber’s research question asks why were the regions of supreme economic development mainly favorable to people whom practiced and identified with Protestantism, including Calvinism?
He used the methodology of comparative historical research in which he compared the history of societies of people that practiced Protestantism and that of other religions. He performed this methodology because he wanted to compare economic success of other regions that practiced other religions compared to Protestants and understand what factors contributed to this success, and how the teachings of the religion led to the development of capitalism.
By using this comparative research, Weber was able to analyze different societies and see how the practices and teachings of that region’s religions was conducive to creating economic capital over time. Reply

RE: Content Analysis/ Comparative Historical Analysis
You have to revise your question. Please read the introduction of the book to understand Weber's question. Hint: it is about 'people" and their beliefs not about "regions".

Content Analysis/ Comparative Historical Analysis
Some argue that religion and economics are intertwined, but how so? Many would ask themselves, how could sociologists study religion? Sociologists cannot study if there is a God or if there is a heaven/hell, religion is a personal belief. However, what they can and do study is the impact of religious belief and behavior on people. Religious belief impacts a broad range of behavioral outcomes, and religious activeness can affect economic conduct at of an individual, group, or nation.
Those who pursue religion often turn away from world’s affairs. They are suspicious of wealth and business, preferring ascetic life of contemplation and prayer. Max Weber argued that after the reformation, Calvinism, a movement within orthodox Protestantism, encouraged a different attitude to work with far reaching effects. Calvinists believed in predestination (the eventual fate of the individual soul; a number of souls go to heaven, lucky ones had reserved spots by God) some worried that they will not be chosen or have a “spot saved” for them in the afterlife. They constantly looked for a sign initiating that they were saved. To their understanding and belief, the way in which they will be saved is by actively contributing to community through their work.
Max Weber stated that in the North of Europe Capitalism developed when the Protestant (Calvinists to be exact) ethic impacted many people to partake in work in the secular world. The Calvinists who need to reassure themselves through their industry, was an important factor in the growth of Calvinism in Europe. They developed their own businesses, engaged in trade, and accumulated wealth for investment- this boosted the economy. Therefore, the Protestant work ethic was a significant force in the start of modern capitalism.
Weber emphasizes the influence of certain religious ideas on the growth of an economic spirit. Max weber' research question in his book, The Protestant Ethic and The Spirit of Capitalism, is: How does an individual’s religious affiliation and practices impact the advancement of the economy? Comparative-historical analysis was the methodology used by sociologist Max Weber to conduct his research. Weber had to compare between the two in order to see the differences of social ordering in various societies. He utilized historical research by collecting documents, using factual information from the church and by analyzing Protestant churches in conjunction with studying the leader/head of churches (a “taste” of the religion and their practices). Max Weber compares a given society and their religious ideologies with another society, and by doing so he gained a newfound knowledge of various cultures and perspectives. Weber specifically sought information of the peoples work production and how their occupation impacted economic development. He was researching the people and their religious affiliation and by doing so he was able to analyze how the correlation between people and their religion impact the economy.

RE: Content Analysis/ Comparative Historical Analysis
Could you please try to narrow down the research question? What is the relationship between religious identities and capitalism?
EX 3)
Max Weber researched, "How does religion influence a societies economic development in capitalism?" through the use of Comparative Historical Analysis method.
Weber analyzed various regions that were associated with different religions and beliefs to see how their religious preferences affected their economic development. Webster argues that their environment and religious practices were what led them to have their economic development. For example, Catholics were more connected to the spiritual world, and their choice of occupation fell into craftsmanship, while Protestants were more interested in the economic production, and in order for capitalism to flourish, the society must also have certain values in their ideas and cultures for their human development. Weber's research was a response to Marxists idea of materialism, the idea that material wealth overpowers spiritual values.
He uses the comparative historical analysis because he had to do an analysis over a period time, especially, including their historical progression, to properly study their advancements in their economic development and its influence for capitalism. He was able to compare how the affiliation of certain religions resulted in different economic developments.
EX 4)
Max Weber’s research question in his study of capitalism in his book, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, is “How does religion and its practice affect economic growth in capitalism?” The method that was used was comparative historical analysis.
Ex 5)
Max Weber focused on the question: "How does religious affiliation impact the growth or progression of capitalism in a societies economic development?" While using the Comparative Historical Analysis method to conduct his research.
Weber analyzed certain areas that practiced different religions had different economical successes, through the examination of their society throughout history as well. He noticed that those who were/ converted to Protestantism tended to be more wealthy and more economically developed than those who were not Protestant. One argument made, was that Catholics, for example, tended to educate their children in the skills of hand craftsmanship, instead of the production industry, like the ones who were Protestant. Webster wanted to research how these two religions may have caused them to prosper in the fields they chose. Weber exemplified that Catholics were more into the spiritual world which made them less attracted to materialistic gain. He argues that the spirit of capitalism is a "philosophy of avarice," and this greed for wealth is the "spirit" of capitalism. He observed that capitalism temporarily existed in places like China and India, however this "spirit" was not present enough in these areas therefore, capitalism was not able to fully develop.
He uses the comparative historical analysis because his research required to analyze the units of analysis over a period time, (including their historical analysis), to effectively observe and study their progression of economic development to make a conclusion for his research. This way, he can understand how their religious affiliations impacted their growth or impact on capitalism in their societies.
EX6)
Max Weber's research question in his study of capitalism is why the beliefs of supreme economic development were favoring people who practiced and identified with Protestantism as well as Calvinism? His methodology for his study was to compare the history of societies of people that practiced Protestantism as well as other religions. He wanted to compare the economic success between the beliefs of other religions compared to the Protestant method when it comes to economy. As well he wanted to figure out what factors lead to certain results and how certain teachings of religions lead to capitalism. His method allowed for him to analyze different societies and see how the teachings, rituals and beliefs of that region was conductive to achieving economic capital.

RE: Content Analysis/ Comparative Historical Analysis
Weber states that capitalism did NOT develop in China and India. Please elaborate why? Please read the pages 1-34.
Which means you cannot use googling to write it…
