FINAL WOMAN STUDIES HM AND SMALL PAPER!
OMGPlease submit your final research paper in your assignmet folder in rtf format.
1) After reading about the current debates in the world of politics regarding women, and the course module on formal and informal participation in politics, tell what you think an important debate is for women today and whether it is best approached by formal or informal participation. Is the issue in the US, or a more global one? what might be a small first step in achieving progress in the debate? What can we learn from Michelle Bachelet's experience in formal participation in the political process? (see the interview on video) LINK HERE>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2toGWWuUkk
2) Read about the Walk a Mile in her shoes international walk against sexual assault, rape, and violence. Have you ever been involved in an event like this? Are you aware of organizations that exist in your community to deal with issues concerning women, violence, and the law? In what sense can we say that the fight for women's rights is a fight for rights of all people? LINK HERE>>>> http://www.walkamileinhershoes.org/

Women’s Studies 200 Assessment (Final Take home exam) 2013
Choose ONE of these topics to write your final assessment:
1)))))))United States choice: The Equal rights amendment: Read the information on the ERA in our text on page 439. Then go to the site http://www.equalrightsamendment.org/index.htm and read about the ERA, its history, what it entails, etc. The section Frequently Asked Questions is also quite interesting.
Based on your reading on the ERA and also considering both the legislation already passed in the US (Civil Rights Act, Title 9, etc) and the issues regarding women we have covered in this course, write a letter to a Congressperson in one of the fifteen states asking them to either support the passage of the ERA in that state, or not to support it.
In your letter, you should cover why you feel the ERA is needed or not, and use 2 sources to back up your stand. Use specific issues regarding women that we have read about, such as education, jobs, domestic violence, military and the draft, medical issues, to show why we either need the ERA or do not need it as the issues it proposes are already covered by existing laws.
Remember to have an introduction, body and conclusion in your answer, with the two sources (you may use our text, and any other source). Your letter should be about 500 words. MLA or APA documentation is fine.
2)))))Global choice: Read about the work of the United Nations for rights for women worldwide in our text on page 439. Then go to http://www.unwomen.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Online-Discussion-Report_CSW-57.pdf to see the issues where progress has been made and the gaps where more needs to be done. Choose a country that the United States has dealings with and write about the status of violence against women in that country, what has been done, and what needs to be done.
Again, use an introduction, body and conclusion in your answer and use 2 sources to support your points about your chosen country. MLA or APA documentation. 500 words.
CHOOSE WHATEVER YOU THINK ITS BETTER FOR YOU!
