In our module this week, we reviewed the Greenpeace International's Toxic threads: The Big Fashion Stitch-up. Link (Links to an external site.)

20 global fashion brands were investigated and "the toxic trail of clothes" was discussed. "This study has demonstrated the presence of a number of different hazardous chemicals within a broad range of textile products, either incorporated deliberately within the materials of the product or as unwanted residues remaining from their use during the manufacturing process." Yet if we look at "What the Brands Say" on pages 36 and 37, all feel they are at their ethical best. How can this be so?

On page 41 of the report we read about the need for government action and the role of "people power."

Which of the specific suggestions for government action do you feel is most important, and why?

Which of the suggestions for global citizens do you feel is most urgent, and why?
