Requirements:

Written (50%) Due Monday, December 3rd for class.

Each student will be assigned to a committee and will write a bill for that committee.  The bill along with a two page explanation/defense of the bill will be submitted to the teacher on Sunday, December 2nd on google classroom.  This written portion of the project will be worth 50% of grade.

  1. Writing a bill: see attached template, look for ideas online, refer to the student bills we used in our previous model congress.  Think about how laws could improve our country.  You may use an idea that is already being debated, but not something that is already federal law.
  2. Writing a defense/explanation essay: DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!!!!! Research your topic with at least three reliable sources (NOT WIKI ANYTHING, YAHOO ANSWERS or GOOGLE).  Sources should be listed on a citation page at the end. The defense should be an attempt to persuade the reader that your bill is a good idea.  Use facts and statistics where possible, do not use personal language.  It should NOT be more than 2 pages long.

Committees: Here is a website as a jumping off point for writing your bill.  Your bill should be on a topic that fits your committee.
