Share a time when you have worked with someone from a different societal cluster. If you have not had the opportunity to do so, discuss how you believe that this interaction might materialize if you are in a position of leadership over this person. What are issues that might arise within that conversation?

                                       CLASSMATE’S POST

I have had the opportunity to work with many kinds of people over the years. I worked at our local airport for two years, and in doing so, I had the opportunity to work with many different cultures, ages, religions and ethnic backgrounds. I have also worked for a family that was from India as a nanny. Working with so many different cultures and backgrounds has taught me a lot. It brought me out of my shell and taught me to get to know people and learn about who they are and love them for who they are. It taught me that I had to learn about different backgrounds to accept people for who they are. I never understood not celebrating birthdays or buying anyone Christmas gifts or even just joining in on going away parties for people at work, until I worked with a woman that was a Jehovah's witness. I thought it was crazy not to celebrate those kinds of things and be happy for those people, but she explained that her religion did not believe in celebrating anyone but Jesus Christ. Everyone is different and that is the blessing when it comes to working with so many different people. You get to know them.
