Few states have guidelines concerning the qualifications of individuals who serve on parole boards. This means that parole boards can be comprised of individuals who have no background in criminal justice or social sciences. Do you see any issues arising because of this as the parole board makes a determination as to whether or not an inmate should be released? Do you think that a parole board should be solely made up of criminal justice professionals, solely private citizens, or a mixture of both, and why?
