Week 4: Assignment 1: Customer Persona/Product Development Plan Part A Instructions: 1. Throughout the course, you will complete a Product Development Plan for a product associated with your current business, a business you hope to create, or one that you are familiar with. In this first part, you will create a Customer Persona. As you recall from your reading, a Customer Persona is a tool used to describe your target customer. It gives a thorough definition of your user, and what they want to accomplish. Customer personas are used by product development teams in order to emphasize user-centered design. They also are a good way to show your hypotheses about your target customers. Your Customer Persona should include: • Customer Persona Name- come up with a fictitious name for your customer persona (ex. Betty Smith or Tim Featherstone) • Photograph- choose a picture of a person that it representative of what your typical customer might look like • Quote that conveys what they most care about- ex. “Fitness is everything” “I want to look good, but don’t want to spend a lot of money doing so.” “Taking care of my family and feeding them healthy meals are top priorities for me.” • Customer Persona Job Title- Use a job title that your average customer might have “CEO” or “Stay At Home Mom” • Demographic Information (gender, age, etc)- ex. Female, age 36, lives in the suburbs, etc. • Needs/goals- what are the needs and goals associated with your customer • Relevant motivations and attitudes- what motivates your customer and what is their attitude towards your product/product category • Related tasks and behaviors- what do they do, or how do they behave that’s related to your product/product category
