Write an  original piece of prose fiction, nonfiction or an original sсrіpt for a  short play or film or an original sсrіpt with thumbnails for a short  comic, or write an original collection of poetry or write an perform an  original song.  Fiction and nonfiction should be 1,250 word (around 5-page double  spaced). Nonfiction assignments will be either Memoir or Personal Essay (or a  blend of the two), but please no interviews, profiles, or opinion pieces  (these weren′t thoroughly covered, and require way too much upfront  research and prep for this assignment). Poetry submissions should be between 5-8 pages, single-spaced, with one  poem per page if the poems are longer than eight lines, or two per page,  if they are under eight lines. Scripts for Screen, Stage or Comics  should be between 6-8 pages and  meet the formatting guidelines provided on Connect. Comic sсrіpts must  include thumbnails (a rough-sketched version of your comic that shows  the panel layout for each page). Thumbnails do not count against your  page count. Examples of sсrіpt formatting will be provided through  Connect.  Song submissions should be 4-5 pages (can be one long song or multiple  songs) and must include a audio file (.mp3 is probably best, .wav may be  too much for Connect) or a link of you (or someone you bamboozled into  singing for you) performing one of your original songs. Background beats  should can be borrowed from a copyright free source (free Youtubes,  GarageBand etc...) but should represent the rhythm and not a full melody  (you are writing a new song, not Weird Al-ing an existing one).  Alternately, you can snap, clap, stomp out your rhythm. You may include  multiple songs in your submission.  It is important that you label your piece either Fiction, Nonfiction,  Screen, Stage, Song, Comics or Poetry. This is usually obvious for forms  like song or comics, but whether it is fiction or nonfiction may not be  clear, and the way each is marked varies.  So: in the header of your page please include your name, the title of  the piece and the form ′FICTION′ ′NONFICTION′ ′SONG′ ′STAGE′ ′SCREEN′  ′COMICS′ or ′POETRY′.  For example
