                                             CLASSMATE’S POST

A trend in my community is gun violence. There is not a day that goes by that there is not a shooting, and this has just started over the last 3yrs. Some of the challenges is residents moving from different areas, unlicensed guns on the streets, and illegal firearms (carried by a non-licensed carrier or felon). There have been several community-based programs whose ideas are not big enough to solve this problem and those programs fall by the wayside. We have had gun by backs and have adopted a shot spotter which helps police responded quicker but we need to find a way to get these illegal guns off the streets.
