Discussion 5

In the not so distant past scientists found the first clear evidence that the thinning in the ozone layer was healing. The Montreal Protocol of 1987 showed some success.

1)  Do you think that the debate on "ozone science" back then is similar to today's climate science debate? Do you think the success of Montreal Protocol can be used as an example to push for better environmental policies?

2) It took more than 20 years to show positive signs - do you think it is too late to make efforts to combat climate change?

3) The solution to thinning ozone layer was more specific (getting rid of CFCs), do you think the debate of climate change is difficult due to the non-specificity of the solutions?  Can we build more specific solutions?
