First one

This particular image is made up of two different aspects that have been used in a juxtaposing manner. On the left side of the image we are objected to a weapon. It is common knowledge that weapons are symbols of destruction and most of the time they are known to bring devastating effects to human lives that is from social, economic and the political aspect of human beings. On the right side of the image we are subjected to a depiction of a pencil. In reality, a pencil is used to write, in this sense a pencil can be used to write the message of peace and hope. Moreover, it can also be used to write new ideas that can help end the trivial conflicts without having to use weapons. Also, a pencil can be used to write new ideas that will help future generations sustain themselves without having to shed blood. My initiation reaction to this image is that it contains a lot of important information and can help influence change and create positivity. Moreover, looking at the image can help one reflect on the aspect of peace and also on the aspect of war. I believe that the image is also trying to show the fact that words can be used to end many types of wars such as the wars on hunger, poverty and drug .

The lighting of this image can be seen to be dull on the left side that represents the weapon and bright on the side of the pencil. This shows that with peace there are brighter days ahead but war will only lead to hopelessness and despondency. Moreover, the dark side also looks tenuous while the bright side looks in stable. This shows that peace helps in creating stability while war only brings instability. Moreover, the focus of the image is on the sharp end, this means that one should focus more on the sharp end because it helps to create meaning from this image. In conclusion, I believe that the image is in consensus with the intended message and it clearly brings out the main themes surrounding this image.

Second one

I had picked the mothers eyes because to me this one had stood out to me and it had grabbed my attention and had the most personality out of all the images.

By looking at Mothers eyes it is a dark almost black picture and the boy is wearing all black and is hard to see him. They had taken the picture as a head shot and the lighting on the picture is only on this boys face but it is mostly focusing on the boys fresh, swollen, black eye. The boy looks scared and sad and miserable and doesn’t know what to do and how to get away from all of this. You can see the fear in his eyes like he doesn’t know if it is going to happen again or what he has done to deserve this. This picture reads “he has his mothers eyes” in all white and in all capital letters trying to get this message out to everyone. For this boy this he is getting the same abuse from someone that his mother was or is getting. By looking at this little boys eye to does not look like it was his first time to be hit.

When I first saw this photo it jumped out at me and it had got my attention on how it was places and what it was focused on. This picture reminded me of something that would be on a book and then I looked at what it actually was. By this picture I feel like they are sending a message on children on getting abused and how they needed to get help but more importantly how his mother should of gotten help way before it had moved to the son and got them out of that house.
