Requirements for the essay

1. Write an abstract which includes 3 parts

· In Part I, you will write the thesis statement. Make sure the thesis is concise (1–2 sentences) and clearly expresses a persuasive argument that offers a solution to a problem.

· In Part II, describe your purpose, audience, and setting. You will provide details about whom you need to convince to bring about change and explain the community you are writing about.

· Finally, in Part III you will evaluate your argument based on the three rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, and logos). For Part III, be sure to use complete sentences and offer specific examples. Aim for 5-7 sentences per section.

2. 3-4 pages excluding the title, reference page and abstract 

3. APA 6th Edition format for the document, including an appropriately formatted title page and References page

4. Reference should include

· Four primary and secondary sources; one source should be from the Purdue Global Library and one source should be a visual or graphic source.

· Sources that would be appropriate are as follows: 

a. Book, ebook, article, or a chapter from book or ebook

b. Periodical (e.g., newspaper, magazine, journal article)

c. Internet source (e.g., blog, organization website, article from Internet site)

d. Video or audio source (e.g., documentary, video blog, TED Talk, podcast)

e. A primary source in which the authors of the content are the primary researchers (the ones who conducted research), e.g., a government report, case study, or speech

f. An interview with an expert source either published online or conducted by the student

g. A visual or graphic source from a credible .org, .gov, or .edu site.

h. At least one source should address an opposing viewpoint or misconception.

 Directly below the APA reference citation for each source, provide an annotation paragraph that includes the following: 

a. Brief summary of the source (no direct quotes from the source) and a parenthetical citation after the summary, e.g., (Smith, 2014)

b. Evaluation of the source’s credibility, including the author’s credentials and the verifiability of the source’s information; this should include where you found the source (Library, Google search engine, government website, etc.)

c. Discussion about how you will use the source to support your argument for community change.
