                                                            CLASSMATE’S RESPONSE

Performance appraisal (PA) is the process of measuring employees' performance. The performance appraisal is one of the known methods used in employee development and career management, which takes place between the employer and employee. The average appraisal is yearly., yet it has been discovered that more frequent informal appraisals, formal appraisals or both (e.g. quarterly, semi-annual, etc.) should be conducted for better career management efforts. All methods should be documented, however informal assessments are not so fully documented as compared to formal assessments, which should be thoroughly documented. An organization for which I formerly worked for conducted performance appraisals on an annual basis. In my opinion, the appraisals were beneficial when they were performed. I don't think that they were as beneficial as they could have been. The way the performance appraisals could be improved is by being conducted on time and more thoroughly. Without timely feedback from management and supervisors the employees were not sure about what they were doing correctly or incorrectly which left doubt and the lack of confidence in the performance of the overall company.
