Topic: RISC-V

Abstract:

Reduced Instruction Set Computer(RISC) is a type of the processor used In Computer. Traditionally Complex Instruction Set Computer(CISC) was used but with the advancement of computer from 8-bit to 16-bit to 32-bit and so on a new processor was needed to handle large applications and so RISC was made. RISC-V is an open Instruction Set Architecture(ISA) based on RISC principles and is open and free to all. With the advancement of technologies and use of heavy applications the processors have to be faster, efficient and smaller. RISC-V is smaller (roughly half the size of ARM cores). The main goal of making RISC-V is to make a universal processor that is free, open and as well provides same software support as that of popular commercial ISA’s like x86 and ARM’s. The generic nature of RISC-V is to be used in all markets(from general computers to mobile phones to microcontrollers, image graphics e.t.c). Thus RISC-V has to be always consistent and updated on micro architectures, from a popular designs and technologies to out of order designs.
