Mislie, these are quantitative studies. Please complete a qualitative critique next week- using 2 qualitative studies. This is a worksheet, provided for you to gather your thoughts. The assignment is an APA paper. Please see the templates that I provided for your success in your welcome message in the individual forum and announcements. Also, your book is required for all assignments in this class- scholarly support takes a summary and makes it into a critique. Please reach out for questions.

Research Critique Guidelines – Part I Comment by Linda Permoda: This is a worksheet- question answer style, not an APA paper that has thesis development, purpose, argument, and logic. Without scholarly support. Please see the required template that I provided for your success in several areas- including your personal welcome to class message and announcements.

Introduction Comment by Linda Permoda: All APA papers have an introduction and conclusion

Qualitative Studies

Background of Study Comment by Linda Permoda: Background Article 1Identify the clinical problem and research problem that led to the study. How did the author establish the significance of the study? In other words, why should the reader care about this study? Identify the purpose of the study. An author may clearly state the purpose of the study or may describe the purpose as the study goals, objectives, or aims. List research questions that the study was designed to answer. If the author does not explicitly provide the questions, attempt to infer the questions from the answers. Were the purpose and research questions related to the problem? Did the authors cite a hypothesis? Be sure to support your response with textbook information regarding the hypothesis that drove the study.

1. Summary of studies. Include problem, significance to nursing, purpose, objective, and research question.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a clear and vivid analysis of different qualitative studies based on what was performed in them. By performing vivid and quality analysis of different qualitative and qualitative analysis, a significant lot of information can be collected. Within the first study, both a randomized and a controlled trial that was incorporating kangaroo care was performed. In-spite of the conventional method that is used in the analysis of vital signs within arterial oxygen saturation rates- that is within the newborns that were hospitalized or those within the neonatal intensive care units was also performed.

The study is significant to nursing since kangaroo mother care is not only effective in improving the overall health and well-being of the individuals within the population but is also an effective strategy in improving the overall well-being of the individuals in question. Kangaroo mother care not only improves the overall progress of the child but also makes the progress to health and wellbeing of the individual in question plausible. Kangaroo mother care has been found effective in both the prevention of neonatal hypothermia and in the development of health and wellbeing in newborns (Dehghani et al., 2015).

The article clearly illustrates that the provision of total, quality patient care using Kangaroo care has been found to lead to an increase in the improvements in various aspects that are related to the generation of thermoregulation and ultimately to the improvement of the health and wellbeing of the individuals in question. The study in question employed quantitative methods in-order to achieve its objectives. The quantitative variables that were ideally used in the case of the study included aspects such as temperature and saturation of oxygen and of the heart rate- which can subsequently be measures and analyzed using appropriate statistically efficient methods (Dehghani et al., 2015).

The second study that was effectively analyzed in the paper is that which analyzed the knowledge, the attitudes and the practices that were towards Kangaroo mother care. Both the knowledge and specific skills related to kangaroo mother care have been analyzed and found to be important in both the promotion and the subsequent reduction of hypothermia within neonates (Ramani et al., 2018).

Nurses have also been found to be with their patients most of the time and have, therefore, been best positioned to aid and support in the provision of kangaroo care in-order to benefit in the prevention of hypothermia as required. Mothers have thus been seen to be an effective part in both the perception and the associated factors affecting kangaroo care. The continuation of kangaroo care has thus been a critical factor in both the maintenance of both the different milestones and in enhancing the associated well-being of the neonates in question (Ramani et al., 2018).

How do these two articles support the nurse practice issue you chose?

1. Discuss how these two articles will be used to answer your PICOT question.

The two articles will be effective in answering the two PICOT questions since the findings from both articles will prove effective in providing the associated and needed findings. The findings from the two articles are additionally effective, since this aids drastically in developing the needed outline and aids in developing the needed results at the end of the day.

2. Describe how the interventions and comparison groups in the articles compare to those identified in your PICOT question.

The interventions that were in the articles that compare to those in the PICOT question include the provision of total patient care that focuses on the needs of the patients. The PICOT

Method of Study: Comment by Linda Permoda: Method of Study- Article 1Was the study descriptive, correlational, experimental, quasi-experimental? Did the researcher tell you what type of study this is, or did you deduct it from textbook definition and the way the researcher collected data- such as how the sample was collected, variables, etc.? Use your book to support your response. Describe the sample population. What does your book say about population sample size? What data collection tools were used? How did the researchers sort the data? How were results analyzed? How was bias controlled? There is always a review of the literature section. Find the section and see what types of literature the authors read to get foundation for this study. What does your textbook author say about articles older than 5 years and importance of scholarly articles in the literature review? In the review of the literature did the author cite quantitative and qualitative studies relevant to the focus of the study? Are the references current? Did the literature review include adequate information to build a logical argument? Were articles strong evidence to support the study?

1. State the methods of the two articles you are comparing and describe how they are different.

The first study employed a randomized control trial- in-order to properly collect the objectives in question. The use of a randomized control trial where 27 neonates received kangaroo care received care within their incubators.

The second study also used a randomized control trial with 36 cases receive kangaroo care. 36 of the cases were under conventional care.

2. Consider the methods you identified in your chosen articles and state one benefit and one limitation of each method.

The randomized controlled method is effective since it aids in minimizing bias. The randomized controlled trail is however disadvantageous since the results may not always mimic real life situation and, therefore, believing the findings would be a problem.

Results of Study Comment by Linda Permoda: Combined Results of the Studies Summarize key findings of each study in two comprehensive paragraphs. Please make sure you include implications of the two studies to nursing practice.

1. Summarize the key findings of each study in one or two comprehensive paragraphs.

Based on the two findings, there is an immense volume of information that can be collected in the first study for instance, Kangaroo mother care was found to be effective in the provision of total quality patient centered care. The use of kangaroo mother care is central to improving the overall health and well-being of the individual involved. Kangaroo care has been found to improve the bonding of the child with his or her parents. Proper bonding also improves the overall growth and development of the child in question.

In the second study, knowledge of Kangaroo care was found to be an important aspect to the growth and development of the child in question. Proper knowledge and intelligence on the use of kangaroo care meant that the child in question could grow properly through the stages of growth and development. Individuals who did not understand proper modalities of using kangaroo mother care were however in trouble since they could not properly proceed with activities of daily living.

2. What are the implications of the two studies in nursing practice?

The two studies are incredibly useful in nursing practice since the results from them are ultimately beneficial. The two studies are useful in that they both focus on the needs of the individual and client needs as they move along the continuum of health. The provision of Kangaroo mother care has been seen to be beneficial in ensuring clients progress well in their life. Not only does Kangaroo mother care provide the needed heat for the client’s baby but it also ensures that the health and well-being of child is properly maintained.

Ethical Considerations Comment by Linda Permoda: the two studies to nursing practice. Ethical Considerations Discuss how the researchers in your two studies ensured ethical considerations while conducting the research. Discuss two ethical considerations in conducting research. What did your book state as imperative in protecting participants?

1. Discuss two ethical consideration in conducting research.

The ethical considerations to put consideration when performing the two articles include ensuring that the consent forms are properly signed. Proper signing of consent forms can be effective in finding the right solution to the many problems that the clients have. A properly signed consent form not only ensures that the client is effectively proceeding with the activities of daily living but that all his or her needs are properly met at the end of the day.

Another ethical consideration when conducting the research includes the consideration and noting of the age of the participants. Since the participants are the center of focus, it is true to assert that the right approach in managing their conditions is met. The ethical considerations of various participants suffering a host of medical conditions is thus considered through performing ethical research.

2. Describe how the researchers in the two articles you choose took these ethical considerations into account while performing their research.

The two researchers in the two articles took the ethical aspects into consideration when they were performing their research. In the first case, they properly analyzed the ages and genders of the individuals within the specified age group. The researchers also analyzed maters to do with the time that the research needs to be done.

Conclusion Comment by Linda Permoda: The conclusion needs to go back to the PICO. How do the two studies relate back up to the PICO. Do these studies answer your PICO question?
