What was the focus of the course work this week?

The primary focus of this week is about the Role of Leaders from across Cultures and how that the leader’s behavior will change according to the situation. The role of leadership is actually based on 4 types those are directive, supportive, participated, Achievement-Oriented. During this week I have learned about the changing nature of leadership that includes leaders can act as a coaches and gender and leadership. When the leaders act as coaches they will helps to develop player talent and teaches them how to execute in a correct way. In chapter I have clearly learned about the leaders behavior will change according to the situations and in chapter 12 I have learned about the leadership substitutes and leadership neutralizers. I have noticed one interesting point that how female and male leaders will make the decisions.

What were the topics?

This week mainly focused on the Types of leaders and how can they react according to the situation and on the other hand I have also learned about the female leaders and male leaders on decision making process. After reviewing the mentioned chapters 11,12 and 13, I have learned about the persuasion skills and upward influence. The chapters define the various levels of leadership qualities and acquiring the power and influence. Out of all these the highlighted information is about defining the various leadership qualities among the different organizations. I have learned about the “Empowerment” which is something sharing power with employees and giving the authority to make some decisions at some point.

How does it relate to your work?

By reading the mentioned chapters, the knowledge I gained so far would definitely benefit me motivated continuously. In all chapters the concept “Improve your skills” has provided me some learning things that actually had in every organization. The concept of the role of leaders across the cultures has given me some idea of team leaders and their behaviors. I have seen different types of leaders in my organization that includes the positive leaders and negative leaders and contingent leaders and their qualities when it comes to the work perceptive. I would strongly say that my team leader has the universal positive leader attributes qualities.
