Spring Internship 2019

Week 1:

I have been keen on some of the roles that Red Cross organization has played in the past as I have seen the efforts put in disaster incidences. The knowledge I had however paled in comparison to how much I got to learn as an intern. The first week was an overwhelming experience which enlightened me on many different levels. I got to comprehend the essence of the organization holistically. The Red Cross Society has establishments in virtually every region across with close to 18 million members and volunteers. The entity serves to protect the well-being of human beings from all over. I learnt about the core functions and programs of Red Cross which include emergency preparedness, disaster aid, management of social health and conflict problems. The organization really has huge tasks and responsibilities in mitigating different types of crises. I was especially impressed by the training that is offered and the volunteering nature of individuals within the society.

I did Shelter Fundamentals online training and I learned that shelters committed to providing shelter on an interim basis while our clients arrange for their recovery until they are able to return home. Also Shelters must be places of comfort, safety and all shelters workers must be strong advocates for their clients, and must provide a safe and secure environment.

The end of the week went to blood drive. Blood drive is going to be every Friday and this Friday the staff taught us what we need to do exactly and how to use their laptop also how to communicate with the people who donating.

Week 2:

Every day I learn something new, and I like that because I am sure that will help me in the future. Week 3:

This Friday was in Blood Drive was full and I was helping the staff giving snacks for the people who donating and I had good time talking with them while I was providing them snacks. I am happy because a lot of people care about donating blood and like to give blood. Also did volunteer at L&N Train Depot in July 2nd and had good experience learned so many about the museum.

Week 8:

this week I did development fundamental acquaints responders with the desires and obligations of being a responder and sets them up for what's in store. Also did 2019 data privacy and information security awareness this course gives a diagram of information protection and security at the American Red Cross. I also went to Nashville for 4th of July and I saw American Red Cross there and I really liked the idea because there were a lot of people in there also I did not expect American Red Cross will do that in a day most of the people not working because it is a holiday.

Summary for the month

It was interesting to do my internship in Red cross. I learned many things while I am doing my internship and the online courses. I am going to take CPR in two weeks and other training courses too.
