 For your business case analysis, focus on PepsiCo, Inc. as

the "organization".

 Please consider yourself to be a member of a strategic

planning task team at PepsiCo, Inc. You and your team

members are comprised of strategic planning executives at

PepsiCo. Your ultimate team task is to develop a 5-years

strategic plan for your organization. Your team will present

the business strategic plan to the highest level management

officers at PepsiCo, as well as to the Board of Directors, for

their considerations. 

 Please make sure that you have read and understand the

"Business Case Analysis" handout, included as one of

your "Resources". This resource specifically outlines the

elements of a business case analysis. Note that you do NOT

have to write an analytical paper that includes all of the

elements in the handout for the purpose of this Discussion

Board assignment. Note that you must write an analytical

paper. 

 Please make sure that you have submitted Discussion

Part A Before you write your Discussion Part B case

analysis. 

 Please make sure that you have read and analyzed your

classmates' posts for Discussion Part A dealing with

Both the Organizational Analysis and Environmental

Analysis Before you write your Discussion Part B case

analysis.

 What do you have to do for Discussion Part B?

Please follow the directions in this Discussion Board.

You will be using the Discussion Board to post your in-depth

business analysis. Please write well-written essays with

complete sentences, paragraphs, correct spelling, and correct

grammar. Please underline and bold key topics within your

essay.

 Please consult the "Business Case Analysis" Resources

included in the "Resources" in the menu to the left.

 Also, please consult the "Business Case Discussion

Resources".

 Also, please consult the Business Case Discussion Resources. I have helped you by including some important resources for your research regarding this organization and its environment, including articles in various business journals to help you to begin your research. If the links do not work, you can try to “google” the article, or find your own reliable sources with the assistance of “How to Do Business Case Research” to analyze this business case.

 NOTE: The COC web site was redesigned recently, so that some links may

not work as they did in the past. If you conducted business research using

the COC web site in past semesters, you may find that the sources and

research materials are different or are located in different places. So please

be aware, understanding, patient, and persistent as you engage in your

research. You can also contact a COC Librarian for help. See the library

within the COC web site.

 Please read the resource dealing with "How to Do Business

Case Research", so that you can do additional research to

analyze this business case. 

 Also, please make sure that you have read my handout

regarding "Number-crunching for Beginners" if you are

analyzing an income statement. This handout is included in

the "Business Case Analysis" Resources.

 For Discussion Part B, please post an Initial Thread

AND At Least TWO REPLIES to the threads of

At Least TWO classmates.

 1) Your initial thread(s) should discuss At Least One

major critical strategic planning issue for PepsiCo.

Please begin by writing the issue in the form of a

question. For example, should PepsiCo's strategy include

an emphasis on developing and marketing "healthy" or

"healthier" products? For another example, what

management measures can be taken to improve profitability

in such PepsiCo products as Gatorade, Frito Lay,

Tropicana, and Quaker Oats ? 

 Please indicate in Bold and underline which issue you

have chosen to analyze. Please read the "Business Case

Analysis" handout, so that you know what should be

included in the critical issue analysis.

 Please make sure that you include an in-depth analysis of

the critical issue in complete sentences and paragraphs.

 2) Your initial thread should also discuss At Least FIVE

Detailed Specific Recommendations for Action that you

feel should be included in PepsiCo's 5-years strategic

plan. Specify examples. These recommendations should

deal with the critical issue that you have analyzed. Please

make sure that you use complete sentences and paragraphs.

 3) You should explain how your specific

recommendations will help to: minimize specific

organizational weaknesses, neutralize specific

environmental threats, and exploit specific organizational

strengths and environmental opportunities. For each of your

recommendations for the 5-years strategic plan, please

indicate in Bold and underline the recommendation and

whether it will, for example, minimize a PepsiCo

organizational weakness, or exploit a PepsiCo

organizational strength. (SWOT analysis).

 4) Your initial thread should be at least 500 words in well-

written complete sentences with paragraphs.

• Note that this is the minimum number of

words in order to possibly get any credit

for this discussion.

• There is no maximum number of words.

• Please feel free to include attachment(s)

with your analysis. All attachments must

be submitted as a pdf file.

• You do NOT need to include every element

of the "critical issues" and

"recommendations" listed in the Business

Case Analysis handout.

 View this assignment as your contribution to your team

meeting with information that you have researched and

analyzed. In other words, if you choose to do an in-depth

analysis of the "healthier" products issue for PepsiCo

mentioned above, then you do not also have to do an in-

depth analysis of every other major critical issue facing

PepsiCo. Another team member may choose to tackle the

issue of whether the organizational structure needs to be

changed to achieve organizational goals.

 5) REQUIRED: Moreover, your initial thread must

include at least one chart, diagram, or graph that you

have designed based upon your research.

• You should include a pdf file attachment

with the graph carefully labeled and

referenced.

• · It is also REQUIRED that you include a

verbal discussion explaining any chart,

diagram, or graph that you include. Please

include a verbal discussion explaining

any chart, diagram, or graph that you

include. • Note: The chart, diagram or graph that you have

designed is worth up to 10 points of this Discussion Part B, and

• your verbal analysis explaining your chart, diagram,

or graph is worth up to 10 points of this Discussion Part B.

 If you designed the chart or graph by yourself, please

specify that you designed it yourself.

 If you did NOT design the chart or graph by yourself but

rather just found the graph or chart in a business journal

article, then please make sure that you indicate that you did

not design the chart or graph AND please give the full

bibliographic source of your chart or graph in MLA style.

 NOTE: It is plagiarism to use the chart or graph or essays

or sentences of a fellow student. If a student engages in

plagiarism or a violation of Academic Integrity, then the

student will be referred to the Dean and there will be

possible consequences, such as failing the course or

suspension from the college, etc. So do your own work and

submit your own work. You can do this assignment.

 6) Please make sure that you specify at least five reference

footnotes within your written analysis AND at least five

bibliographic references for your research information at

the end of your analytical discussion paper. These

references may include the research sources that I have

included under "Business Case Discussion Resources" in

the menu to the left. The bibliographic resources should be

in MLA style and NOT just "www. . . . . . . "

 7) Please note also that Academic integrity is required in all student discussions, papers, charts/ diagrams/graphs, attachments, etc. in the Discussion Board and in your business case analysis. All reference sources must be properly cited, even the work of other students. For example, posting another student’s chart or words without indicating the source would suggest plagiarism and/or cheating. Please read the "Cheating" and "College Policies" sections in your course syllabus.

 8) You must also post At Least TWO Replies to At Least

TWO Students’ posts in your class. Each of your

analytical REPLY POSTS should be at least 100 words in

complete sentences. Note that this is the minimum number

of words.

 9) Please read your BUS 100 Syllabus regarding the

requirements of Discussions, AND please use your

Netiquette.

Have fun as you learn while working on your Business Case

Analysis!

You can do it!
