Research Paper Instructions
You may choose any technology/information systems related topic for your paper. This can be from the textbook, a work related issue/activity, or anything pertaining to the course objectives. You may use any legitimate sources for research and I highly recommend using the MSOE library database which you can get to using this link: http://www.msoe.edu/community/campus-life/library/page/1960/libraryhome.

One free resource available to MSOE students is RefWorks (under Library Resources on the HUB). RefWorks is an online research management, writing, and collaboration tool to help gather, manage, store, and share all types of information. It also generates citations and bibliographies based on the style of writing you are using. Go here to register/log in:
https://www.refworks.com/refworks2/default.aspx?r=authentication::init&groupcode=RWMilwaukeeSEMSOE RefWorks institution key (required to register) is: RWMilwaukeeSE (it is case sensitive) Once logged into RefWorks, you can download Write-N-Cite (32 Bit version) which will be made an addin to Word 2010 and install a tab at the top. This allows you to insert citations you imported into RefWorks as you write your paper. It also allows for you to insert the bibliography you created in RefWorks. Using RefWorks and Write-N-Cite are NOT required when writing your paper; however, they will greatly reduce the work.

Write your paper according to the APA writing style. Look under the Content area (left pane) in
Blackboard for APA Resources and for links to the APA style of writing.
Your report must use credible references, and you must cite your references in your report using APA 6th edition formatting guidelines and writing styles. Your report will be evaluated based on how well you create and format your document (organization), how well you fulfill the requirements of the assignment, and ensure it is free of grammar/spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation errors.

·         Your report must include the following:
Paper Length: there is no minimum or maximum for this report. However, please try and limit your paper to no more than 5-10 pages (excluding cover sheet and reference section).

·         Somewhere in your report, add an illustration or image that is appropriate and relevant for your content. This could be a photograph, graphic, or other pictorial item.

·         TIP: Using bullet/numbered lists, adding tables to summarize information and key facts if
appropriate, and other techniques, such as using headings, to organize the paper will only
add to the quality and generally a higher grade.

·         An APA style document, including cover sheet, abstract, and references sections.

·         Thepaper must include correct formatting and all sources used must be documented according to the APA style guidelines. REMEMBER: it is important that your formal report comply with APA style guidelines, as a majority of the points you receive for this assignment will be based on how well you meet this requirement. While content is important, it is expected that your paper will be free of spelling, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, etc. errors.

Research Paper Submission When you have completed your report, and carefully reviewed it to make sure it meets all requirements and is well-formatted using Word features and functions, you may submit it. To submit the assignment, click the Research Paper link under Week 6, and follow the assignment submission prompts. Note this is a two step process - you must browse for and attach your document, and then submit it.
You must submit your assignments through Blackboard as described here BY (preferably before) the due date and time to receive full credit. Points will be deducted for late submissions.
