Submit Assignment: Trends Contributing to Structural Lag

profilewanafa

Structural lag is defined as a condition that occurs when two related structural characteristics of a social system change at different rates and therefore become out of sync with each other (Crossman, n.d.). In this week’s studies, one of the related characteristics is aging policy and the other is those age 65 and over. Thus within the realm of public policy, aging policy and those it applies to (65 and over) are out of sync.

Chapter 2 in your textbook, The New Politics of Old Age Policy, discusses structural lag and its implications for old age policy (Hudson, 2014).

Write a 2-3 page paper that discusses two key demographic and/or social trends that contribute to the structural lag between those 65 and over and aging policy today.

Support your statements with evidence from the Required Studies and your research. Cite and reference your sources in APA style.
