Select a measurement lesson that you have taught or one that you locate from an online source. Utilize the “Level of Cognitive Demand” professional development Blackline Master from the text, Elementary and Middle School Mathematics: Teaching Developmentally (Van de Walle, Karp, & Bay-Williams, 2013) to assess and evaluate the lesson. This Blackline Master resource can be found on pages 36-37 of the text or in the PDToolkit. Address the following in two to three pages. 


• Give an overview of the lesson.
• What elements of the “Levels of Cognitive Demand” are evident in the lesson? Which elements are not evident in the lesson?
• Describe your overall evaluation of whether this task/lesson has the potential to engage students in higher-level thinking.
• What adaptations would you make to the task or lesson in order to increase the potential for higher-level thinking?
