Technology in the past decade has shape the way business is conducted in today’s economy. The economic unit can thrive on the use of platforms provided by technological attributes afforded to them. Health care facilities are no exception to this rule as times changes business must become aware of any changes professionally and technologically as well.

Patients that receive care from the larger health care facilities uses technology from the time they provide personal identifiable information on laptops to simply check in. Apps are becoming more useful in providing testing results, scheduling appointments, and asking health related questions as well.

 

Social media has really become a broad platform for patients and business units as well. It is one of the most popular platforms for marketing any product or business. In fact, one advantage per DeArment, A. (2012) is the volume of users on Facebook and other social media mediums is becoming as dependent as the use of a cellular during daily activities. It makes it favorable for any business to promote or market product and promote new health prevention medicines as well. The platform can also be used to target specific interest groups for potential consumers.

 

Ideally there is always good and bad in every scenario or event. Social media platform is great for promoting new products upcoming into the marketplace. The downside is the authenticity of the product being produced may not exist Ventola, C. P T. (2014). Additionally, the ability to hurt or defame any professional is easy done on this platform. The impact can make business profit margins slim even if the accusation is not true Ventola, C. P T. (2014). Patient information must be protected at all times so health care professionals must be careful of answering patient’s medical questions using social media as well HIPAA violation can occur.
