Refinishing an Old Armoire

Part 1:

In the Unit 6 Discussion Assignment, you drafted your tutorial’s process. In this unit’s Discussion Assignment, you will revise that text while also applying design features such as headings, font highlights, color, white space, visuals, and other characteristics you learned in this unit’s Reading. If you include visuals, be sure they are labeled (e.g., Graphic 1. USB port on laptop) and cited if you did not create the visual yourself. Think about what design features your audience would appreciate, and not just what “looks good.”

Unlike previous Discussion Assignments, for which you were able to simply type your entire Assignment into the Discussion response box, please attach your document to the Discussion response string so that your formatting features are not lost. The attached document should be saved as .doc or .pdf.

Part 2:

After designing your document, justify the decisions you made in relation to color, layout, font, and visuals. Reflect on how your decisions will impact your target audience. Cite content from the Readings for this unit to help support your audience analysis decisions. Click the Resources icon below for the Reading’s citations. You will need to add in-text citations in your paragraphs to indicate which sentences reflect ideas from sources.

Part 2 of the Discussion Assignment can be posted in the Discussion response box as text; in other words, it does not need to be included in the document you attached to the Discussion string.

When responding to peers, provide substantial feedback that initiates further ideas related to the design of the document. Provide suggestions on how to make the more effective, such as consistency and clarity. You may even want to provide suggestions as to where visuals might help further support what was written. You can share your personal perspective, if relevant, but try to keep the response’s focus on helping the student refine his or her design of the document.

All Discussion responses should be written in complete sentences using Standard American English. Before submitting your response, proofread for grammar, spelling, and word-choice errors. The entire post should be at least 200 words long, though a longer response may be needed in order to adequately respond to the questions posed above. When referring to the Reading or other sources, whether quoting, summarizing, or paraphrasing, cite the source using proper APA in-text citations and full references
