Post Discussion: Aging Policy Influencers

profilewanafa

Legislative or public policy advocacy is working with individual lawmakers and lawmaking bodies to gain support for your cause or initiative, for the needs of a specific population, for an organization or group of organizations, or for specific services (Community Tool Box, n.d.).

There are many organizations that represent older adult service providers and gerontology disciplines (i.e., geriatric care managers, geriatric nursing…) that participate in public policy advocacy.

Identify, through an internet search, an organization* that engages in public policy advocacy for the elderly. In your discussion, provide information about who the organization serves, what aging policy issues they advocate for, and what advocacy methods they use.

Support your statements with evidence from the Required Studies and your research. Cite and reference your sources in APA style.

*An organization could be a trade association, professional association, or an agency that is a direct provider of older adult services that engages in public policy advocacy.
