Week 1 - Project Review and Formulation - Review entire Course Project description under "Course Project" tab under "Course Home." Begin thinking about what project topic you will be focusing on for your Course Project. You will be submitting your Course Project "Topic Proposal" by the end of Week 2.

Week 2 - Topic Proposal Due - This week, you will hand in your topic proposal. Here is what is required:

  1. A cover page (including your name, course name, and title of your paper).
  2. A second page briefly (three sentences or less) describing the area of telecommunications policy you will be studying and addressing in your paper. There are many, many topics to choose from. Here are a few examples:

Example Topics

a.       VoIP Regulations

b.      "Telecommunications" versus "Information Services"

c.       Cable Industry Regulation

d.      Internet Regulation

e.       Deregulation versus anti-competitive conduct (Can you achieve the former without protections against the latter?)

f.       VoIP and the public interest - (Should VoIP connect to 911? Contribute to Universal Service Fund? Pay local & state taxes?)

g.      Any additional area of telecommunications policy you would like to address.

Week 3 - Outline Due - In Week 3, you will hand in the outline for your course project. 

Week 5 - References Due - In Week 5, you should have your research complete, and be ready to hand in your references. Submit a comprehensive bibliography. An APA formatted list of at least five references that you will use for your paper. For a review of Internet citations, visit the APA Resource Center from your Course Home/Student Resources/Writing Source link.

Note: Be sure to check your sources thoroughly before submitting them to your bibliography. All citations should have some type of academic merit, that is, they should be research-oriented and incorporate material that is verifiable and well referenced.
