My gender orientation is androgynous. Knowing my gender orientation allows me to understand myself more and explains why I react certain ways in certain situations. one's gender orientation is a "social, symbolic construction that expresses the meanings a society confers on biological sex" (Wood & Dindia, 1998, p. 20) It can have a great impact on how you communicate and allows you to adapt having both a high level of masculine and feminine traits. This can guide me in communicating with others in the right manner in specific situations. Allowing me to have stability and flexibility in the way that I think and communicate with people in different cultures, certain levels of education, and styles.
I feel like my score is accurate and now I understand why I am the way I am. I have both masculine and feminine traits. An androgynous individual, who possesses aspects of both masculine and feminine gender orientations, could have more satisfying relationships than masculine or feminine individuals because he or she has the the advantage of being able to employ both communication styles with some degree of skill (Ickes 1985)( Bevan and Sole 2014). Being able to adapt helps in interpersonal communication interactions. Some masculine traits that I have are freedom, stability, focus, passion, independence, discipline, and strength. My feminine traits are empathy, flow, nurturing, affection, patience, loving, and radiance. These traits combined can be a great strategy method on how you communicate with people of different cultures, race , and religion. Being androgynous can be a strength and have a great impact on your interpersonal communication skills.
The benefits of having androgynous communicating style is that I am easily adaptable in situations. The mixtures of masculinity and femininity creates a balance. This balance can guide you in how to properly communicate in specific situations. Knowing when to use your traits to your advantage is the key to understanding the way the world works, the way you think, feel and see things. The gender similarities hypothesis, which states that males and females are much more alike than different in terms of how they think, feel and communicate (Bevan and Sole).Men and women all like their freedom, independence, and they can get emotional if the situation suites itself.

Gender orientation is how a personal feels romantically towards or is sexually attracted to another human being. A man can feel romantic towards a female or male or even a transgender. A woman can do the same. It also refers to whether a female acts feminine, masculine or even androgynous.

My sex-role inventory score for masculinity was 103 and for femininity it was 89. I think for today it is accurate. My personality changes so often that in a few weeks I may be more feminine at that time. Some of the questions asked were hard to answer. Do I like to go shopping? No, not really. But when I go shopping for my kids I love it. Shopping for myself or anyone else is horrible.

When having an androgynous communication style a person can enjoy topics that are both feminine and masculine. I feel like this is for of my way of communicating. I enjoy doing girly things like making my hair look nice and wearing feminine clothing but at the same time I love going fishing and playing video games. A person who is more androgynous is able to connect with both feminine and masculine people. They are much easier to get along with because they are very open to different conversations about lots of different things.
