Read the case study information about Casi on pages 235–238 of Functional Assessment. The case study identifies the function of Casi's challenging behavior and provides a rationale for selecting that function. Based on the information presented, what do you believe are the key features necessary for an intervention plan for Casi in order to decrease challenging behavior and increase appropriate replacement behavior (or behaviors)? How would you change relevant antecedents and setting events? How would you change the consequences to address the negative reinforcement function?

Describe the personal reaction to interventions used to address problematic behaviors. Discuss assessment methods to address functional daily living skills.

Question 7

Discuss how you will positively represent ABA in such circumstances without coming across as being arrogant and inadvertently increasing opposition to ABA. Give examples of the kinds of statements or questions that you might use. In addition, discuss your experience with the ABA Interventions: How to Show Support branching interactive in this unit's studies. How did you respond to the parents, and why? What do you think the best response would be in this situation?

Briefly explain the steps in assessing social skills using direct observation, and the direct instruction sequence for teaching social skills. In your role as a consultant, describe how you would collaborate with a classroom teacher to teach social skills to a student with autism.
