Project 2 I very much liked your of looking at annual reports of firms and noting ethniticies / gender to test our hypothesis that, "There is racial or gender discrimination in the Boardroom"
So, Let's do this: If each colleague make a copy of the spreadsheet and call it your Firstname_lastinitial_BOD, so for example, for me, my post would be laurence_o_BOD.
Go to 3 to 5 companies or nonprofits (I did Pepsi and American Cancer Society) and post the number of Board members in the spreadsheet; for example 4 white male, 3 white female, 2 African American male, 1 Hispanic female, etc. in the spreadsheet starting at row 66. if do not know exactly their ethnicity - take a best guess - assuming will be easy to discern the gender (but who knows - may be some double-gender Board member
Also, this will require your experience in Finance - but if can calculate the few financial ratios - and then for Part 2 of the final project, we'll run regressions to determine if the profitablity of a firm / organization is a function of gender or race. The ratios are fairly simple to calculate by looking at Balance Sheet of Income Statement - if need assist with this piece let me know What I'll do once received will package it up - so we'll have about 100 observations which will be a good representation. Note - I tried using Google docx in the past for similar and was disaster so let's just do individual s/s and I'll combine After we get the data, we'll run the regression and "prove or disprove" discrimination
* Please use the file that attached below to prepare your 3 to 5 inputs for the gender / race and financial ratios for the corporations / organizations you have chosen.
