360-Degree Survey Vendors

Tony

Hi Class,

I have served in the military for over 20 years, and I have seen a lot of surveys. It seems like every time you open up your email, there is a survey for the unit, the base, your specific job, or lastly one for the Air Force as a whole. It seems like these surveys start to get pumped out when things are not going the way leadership expects. In the Air Force Reserves in particular, we have our Enlisted Performance Reports every 2 years. These reports are the tools our supervisors use to evaluate us, and see how we stack up against other Airman of the same rank. On the Active duty side of the Air Force, their evaluation reports are due every year. I assume that the reserves get an extra year because we have civilian lives that take up 75-80 percent of our time. I remember going to the Senior Non-Commissioned Academy, and first hearing about all the comprehensive self-assessment tools out there, including the 360-degree feedback surveys. In my job, it’s hard enough to get an honest evaluation from my boss, let alone a handful of other individuals in the unit. I feel as though for my personal growth and development, the 360-degree tool would be very useful. I went ahead and searched for “360-degree feedback surveys.” After looking through a couple, I stumbled across a site that had the “top” paid survey sites, and the web links associated with them. I looked at a couple of “paid” survey sites from the top four that had the most stars and the most reviews. The 360-degree feedback tool I settled on was Trakstar performance Appraisal software. I was first turned off by the fact you had to put in your personal information before they would let you watch a demonstration video, but after a little digging, I found a Youtube video explaining the software produced by the company. The software seemed very user friendly. I also liked the fact if you wanted to repeat the same process for another employee, the program set it up with one click. I’m not sure if I have enough people serious enough about my development to use this product. If I did, this would be the survey I would use.
