1. In your own words, please explain how the Progressive Era of the late 1800s-early

1900s was a direct response to the "Gilded Age. of the mid-late 1800s" What was the

Gilded Age? What were the major events, people, and ideas? How did these things spur

on the Progressive Movement and what were the major changes made during that time

period?
