Exide Technologies is a secondary lead smelting facility which recovers lead from recycled automotive batteries. It is located at 2700 S. Indiana Street in Vernon.  This plant has been in the news recently concerning environmental pollution being emitted from its facility.  Write about the problem.  What chemicals are being emitted from the company and why?  What health risks doe these chemicals pose to the community?  What is the South Coast Air Quality Management District doing about this problem?
