:   Women face discrimination in the work place due to the aspect of men wanting to be the dominant gender. Men continue to be dominant in the work place. As women move up and their pay rate increases, men become intimidated and try to prevent women toe excel any more than they have already. Although, women are findings their ways to climb the ladder. 40 percent of women are in managerial positions. Women shouldn't be any different than men. They can be just as educated,m trained, and experienced as men. Pay rate should be equal.

I do agree with the verdict. Any company that did that to any other colored individual who rose a complaint would have gotten the same type of verdict for regular discrimination. It's amazing what large companies think they can get away with. It's just like the jobs that go "you're over qualified for the job." When we're looking for a job and get to the point that we are asking companies for jobs that we know we're over qualified for, we don't care if we're taking a "huge pay cut" because at that point we're generally unemployed and it's better than what were currently getting (a.k.a. nothing). I think that there should be something done about that, but we're talking discrimination and reverse discrimination. Reverse discrimination, in my opinion, is just as bad as discrimination and therefore should receive the same verdicts. I'm actually surprised that PepsiCo. Inc. didn't have even more penalties due to the case.

I think it's a fair comparison due to the kind of prejudice we face. (Aggressive and over things we can't change.) I feel that it's beginning to be more widely accepted as something you shouldn't discriminate about, but at the same time, there is so much discrimination out there that it's hard to stop them from doing it without legislation against discriminating using it. Unfortunately, so far we don't have any legislation against this discrimination and it's sad that there isn't. I have seen, however, that the WIC and food stamp offices in my area have added this to their "We will not use this to discriminate against you" list and I'm proud of them for that.

I agree in order for a business to stay completive in today's markets it is a must for them to be able to accept credit or debit cards. Very few consumers pay with anything other than credit or debit cards. The business must evaluate they system that they choose to process the credit or debit card payments. It has to be very reliable and secure. As the business must keep the customers information safe from hackers. They must also review and seek out the most affordable credit and debit card processing services.  Doing so will allow them to meet the needs of their customers and ensure that they have a quicker means of collecting their funds.  When you accept credit or debit cards the funds are deposited into your account within 24 hours rather than the 7 to 10 days it use to take to clear a check.  Since you get approval when the credit or debit card is processed you also minimize returned funds that was a concern when you only accepted checks.

I heard of smart cards a while ago, but I did not know they were currently being used. Any idea as to why we have not begun to use them yet?  I like the idea of not having the credit card information on the card itself. The card number and even security code is readily available making it incredibly easy to find, steal and use. I was thinking, if the card numbers are changed to a chip, then there must be some device a hacker can use to simply use to swipe near someone's pocket, say on a subway, and access their card information. But, the user of the mechanism would have to be authenticated before accessing the card, which I think is quite clever.

Let us think about smart cards. They are here everywhere we just do not always associate a smart cart with the item or understand that it is embedded in the object.  A smart card is a device that includes an embedded integrated circuit that can be either a secure microcontroller or equivalent intelligence with internal memory or a memory chip alone. The card connects to a reader with direct physical contact or with a remote contactless radio frequency interface. With an embedded microcontroller, smart cards have the unique ability to store large amounts of data, carry out their own on-card functions (e.g., encryption and mutual authentication) and interact intelligently with a smart card reader. Smart card technology conforms to international standards (ISO/IEC 7816 and ISO/IEC 14443) and is available in a variety of form factors, including plastic cards, key fobs, watches, subscriber identification modules used in GSM mobile phones, and USB-based tokens.
