THE STORY IS BELOW:

Once upon a time in a small grey house there lived a family with two little girls. The little girls had everything they could ask for lots of toys, shoes clothes, and food. One day the little girls decided they did not care about the all the things they have, and they figured it would be okay to make a mess with their toys. Their mommy and daddy argued with them to clean up their mess, or it was going in the garbage. The little girls did not care. They continued to play and not listen. Until one day the daddy said it was enough playing and they had to clean. Again, they didn't accept the fact that they had to do what they got told. So all the toys got packed in black garbage bags and were delivered to the dump. The girls were not very happy about it, but they learned that if they would do what the girls are asked in the first place and clean they can keep the toys and avoid the argument.

Step in the Project

Setting

Week 05

Describe the setting where and when your story takes place.

Step 1. Your first step is done! During Weeks 03 and 04, you completed your plot outline and theme plus your two character sketches. (You are probably inserting a lot of this work into the rough draft of your story.)

Step. 2. Study  the section on "Setting" in your textbook, especially the "Do's for Description" at the end of the section.

Step 3. Describe the setting of a specific scene in your story. Details of setting answer the question: "Where are we?" You probably already know where your story is taking place, but now is the time to develop the detail and mood, the power of the setting. Then you can use it in your story!

Sample sentences for a setting

The little girl and her mother live next to a large forest. The forest trees and plants grow thickly together, thorn branches pushing into palm leaves, rubber trees scraping bamboo. Large black birds fly from tree to tree, cawing. Only one trail cuts through the forest, letting in a little bit of sun. And so on.
