  1. This week I want you to do the same assignment. Let me explain a little more about what I mean by finding and example from your everyday life. I want you to find an example from the various kinds of media you consume. Some students have used commercials or clips from shows, some students have used comedian sketches and internet sites, etc. You don't have to look hard to find examples of people using arguments! Again, this week, you must write an 300 word analysis of 1 specific topic covered over at least 2 kinds of media. You need to discuss both of your examples thoroughly in regards to the arguments you find specifically there (not arguments that you think exist in the world somewhere!). You should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the logical arguments we have discussed in class as well as a good understanding of your subject area. Remember, this is a good place where you can earn extra credit!

    Sample topics include:

    The Straw Feminist.

This has been done well by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnJxqRLg9x0. However, this is not to say that you can’t produce an interesting view of this topic.

    Euthanasia

    Democrat or Republican jargon

    Anti-Intellectualism

    Abortion

    Heterosexual and/or Homosexual Relationships

E.g., how they are presented as a couple and separately. A subcategory of this is the fat, nice husband and the thin, nagging wife.

    Jingoism (any country)

    Nerds

    Abstinence

    Race

    Slut-shaming

    Death Penalty

!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A GROUP ACTIVITY !!!!!!! You are to find your own examples and write your own analyses. However, it is OK to show it to a friend to have them help you with your writing. Moreover, Drexel has an excellent Writing Center which you can bring this assignment to for additional assistance.

!!!!!!! DO NOT PLAGIARIZE !!!!!!! I’ll be forced to give you a zero for the assignment and also report it to the appropriate ethics committee—300 words is not worth you failing the course!!!!!!!!!
