Management and leadership, although not the same conceptually, do share several functions— planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling—and require similar technical, human, conceptual, and future‐oriented skills. The manner in which management is most efficiently conducted and what constitutes good management are subjects of research and debate. Likert’s systems of management, Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Grid®Vroom and Yetton’s leader‐participation model, and Kuhnert and Lewis’s transactional leadership theories provide a broad perspective on the management styles found in organizations
