Self as Leader
Course Requirements
Fall Semester 2014
JOURNAL (50 points)
You will be required to keep a course journal that focuses on three topics (chapters) from the book covered in the course. You will select the three leadership areas from the book that most closely align with your passions/interests. Use the self-assessments in the book as a part of framing your response to each one.
In these journals, you are to focus on the following questions:
1. Why did you pick that topic (chapter)? What “speaks” to you about it?
2. What did you learn about YOURSELF as you thought and wrote on this topic?
3. How competent are you with regard to that particular component of leadership?
4. How can you get more competent or able in that component? Be specific.
5. How will you know if you are GETTING more competent? What feedback will you seek?
6. Why do you care enough to work on that component of Leadership? What’s IN IT FOR YOU? What’s in it FOR OTHERS?
The requirement is that the journal entries be:
1. Typed, double-spaced, single-sided printing on paper
2. 12-point font (Times New Roman preferred)
3. 1-inch margins all around
4. EACH entry should be adequately long enough that it covers your reflective thoughts. Each entry (that is for each topic/chapter) is usually approximately 2 page(s) length.
5. So, a journal will have three topics covered , and each topic will be approximately 2 pages, for a total of approximately 6 pages.
6. Late submissions are NOT ACCEPTABLE and EARN a 0.
7. These should be uploaded to the Pilot Dropbox by the date noted on the weekly schedule.
