Bid Analysis
Purpose: Evaluate the financial results of bid and contract negotiations.
The goal of Module 3 is to acquire and complete five contracts through a competitive bid process.
Within Practice Operations, players have the option of accepting the work request as is or adjusting
pricing and/or delivery dates to acquire the contract. For this assignment, each student is to submit an
analysis of five bids in which the student changed some element of the work request. You may not use
the bids provided during the tutorial portion of the module.
Required: For each of the five bids, provide a client analysis, an explanation of the original work request
(item, cost, quality and delivery), why you selected that request, your bid strategy and a financial
analysis evaluating the profitability of your bid compared to the original work request. In other words,
how much less/more did you make because of the bid? Be sure to include an analysis of declined bids as
well - how much would you have made or lost had the bid been accepted.
At least three of bids must have been ones that the client accepted. In the explanation of your bid,
explain what changes you made and why. Be sure to include all the relevant costs (for example, did you
need to purchase equipment?) Please explain why you made the changes you made and whether the
results were what you were expecting.
Explanation and summary must be written in complete sentences. While grading is not heavily weighted
on grammar and spelling, these elements will be taken into consideration.
Additional Information: This assignment can only be completed while you are playing the module. All
the bids must be from the same module, but you can use any attempt. See the Bid Analysis rubric for
grading information.
