Step 1: Start researching Kansas City Int'l Airport. Select the terminal which services Delta Air Lines. Startanalyzing the layout, the facility, passenger loads, number of aircraft serviced. Please post your successes orfailures in locating information here so that all are helped in this phase. Step 2, coming this weekend but here's ahint:

Step 2: Start researching the local initiatives for a new terminal at KMCI. A considerable amount of research hasalready been done for you in your TERMINAL DESIGN PROJECT so its just about reading all of the material youwill find here so that you will be ready for step 3.

Step 3: TERMINAL DESIGN PROJECT Bnow you have an idea of how bad the airport is designed at KansasCity Intl. It is truly a unique disaster which is unlike any other airport. Bnow you've also read the plans KCI hasdeveloped to mitigate this situation (step 2). You also determined traffic, passenger counts at Terminal B (step 1)and ignored Terminal A (because it wilbe torn down in the plan and there are no more airlines located there) andTerminal C (just to make this project a little eas ier).

FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS ASSIGNMENT, the terminal design KCI has proposed has been research edand has just beefound to be unsafe (by researchers and experts in ground safety and airport design). Youwill also find that the proposed design is unlike anything in your textbook.

Your project (in which you will use Sketch Up) is to design a new terminal A, any design you wish. Assume thepassenger counts, and aircraft gates you uncovered for Terminal B (step 1) and multiply by 3. Those are theparameters for your new design. You can use any design you wish, other than the proposed design (because it isjust too costly for the purposes of this assignment). Some obvious things: you can't tear down Terminal B or Cbecause it's in use. And you can't interfere with exist ing runwalocations.
