a 2000 paper about music

profilerouzhang

The paper will be at least 2000 words, double-spaced, sans-serif font (just over 7 pages). More detailed information regarding the guidelines and rubric for paper grading is included in a separate document. Despite our open discussions questioning the climate of appropriating pre-existing material, plagiarism will not be tolerated. The paper is due at the start of our scheduled final exam time slot during finals week (12/15: 1145am-245pm), but may be turned in earlier.

Regarding options 2 & 3: The more specific and focused your topic, the better. For example, a topic such as “Indian music” might be too broad, but “ragas and their oral transmission in Indian music” or “aspects of Indian music in the works of John Cage” would be preferable. Incorporation of other disciplines (your major field of study, for instance) is highly encouraged (e.g. – if you are studying health care, “benefits of music therapy to rehabilitate patients with speech disorders”).
